The activities of the enemy, called
Satan occur in the darkness of our lives.
In my bedroom I have this tiny
night light. It is not a hindrance that would keep us from sleeping, but an ever so wonderful aid to navigate through a room
that is subject to renovations of a new house we have bought. Without it, I am liable to stumble over things that I am not
aware are even there, especially waking or semi-waking from a deep sleep. I think of the work of the enemy in the same way.
If he can keep us in the dark, where he operates skilfully, he will trip us up and cause us harm.
This morning I thought of the
wonderful thing known as light. I talked and listened to the Father about light, and this is what I learned.
I strive at times with the activities
of darkness; areas in my own life of things I do, and yet know (with my mind) that are harmful for me. I seek to muster up
all the willpower I have to overcome them, sometimes successfully but ultimately still failing.
As I pondered light this morning,
I realized that when the light shines, the activities of the enemy have no effect. The way from the darkness takes no effort
on our part. Even in the physical, how can we turn a night into day? The enemy is exposed when the light of truth shines in
our hearts. We will see the stumbling blocks the enemy laid before us and we will avoid them, so they will not hurt us.
Jesus Himself said, “I must
work the works of Him that sent Me while it is day. The night comes when no man can work” As long as I am in the world,
I am the light of the world”
Pastor Gord often refers
to Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God” The NASB puts it as “Cease striving and know that I am
God”. The more we KNOW “that I am God” the more our confidence
in Him grows, which in turn causes that light to shine more and more, exposing and dismantling the lies of the enemy which
can be so deeply rooted in our beings.
